I'm hosting a training on Friday, February 13, 2026

The address is 5705 Old Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014.
Register at jill.macniven@gmail.com or 502 612 5095
You will receive hands on tools in training to use with your student or classroom.

I focused in on specific techniques that my tutoring parents have depicted on a survey most recently given to them. From that information, I have created an interactive way to teach kids how to write a story using hands on tools and manipulatives. This will be helpful to assist kids in how to write a short book. This session is only 30 minutes long with 60 minutes of hands on training.
Camp Bookworm is June 8-20 5:30 to 8:30pm nightly. Our theme this year is Kentucky through MY Eyes. They will be learning to read and write using phonemes and graphemes and write a story/folk tale. We use OG and Speech to Print Method of tutoring. Not only do kids learn the sounds but how to write them correctly.
Camp Bookworm’s goal is to shower students with KY art, KY music, fun, educational information, folk tales and history all about Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln, Bill Monroe, Horses, Farming, anything KY.
Camp Bookworm Guests - Chicken Farmer and Guitar Player
We are hosting two guests one is a chicken farmer to talk about chickens in KY, raising them, eggs, etc... second guest is a guitar player from KY who is coming to share some KY country music.
Kentucky Themed Books
I have bought 3 books about Kentucky for the little ones and one for the older students. The one book is about the Life of Bill Munroe the musician from KY. It's the life of Bill Monroe in a easy to read format. I have books to read from my cousin Paul Brett Johnson who wrote the most amazing folk tales for kids to enjoy. These books are filled with colorful pictures and funny stories.
Kentucky Artisan Craft
I'm still looking for someone to do a KY artisan project or craft. Such as a weaving project or mini paper quilt or clay to form pots presentation.

I hope you can make it at 6pm on Friday, February 13, 2026. I hope you cn make it to Camp Bookworm June 8-20, 2026. jill.macniven@gmail.com
