The Orton-Gillingham Approach
Decorative Divider - gold - short.png

Orton-Gillingham is a structured, explicit and multisensory approach to teaching reading and writing. Instruction is based on each student’s individual strengths and needs rather than a one-size-fits-all lesson plan.

Assessment First

Tutoring begins with an Orton-Gillingham Diagnostic Assessment. The results help identify each student’s current strengths, challenges and instructional needs.

Individualized Lessons

Each lesson is prepared around the student’s assessment results and progress so instruction is tailored to individual learning needs.

Structured, Multisensory Instruction

Students learn through visual, auditory and hands-on methods that reinforce how sounds, letters, words and language patterns work together.

Continued Practice at Home

Families receive lesson materials that can be used at home to reinforce instruction and support continued growth between sessions.
